A tungsten carbide pocket scriber allowing geologists in the field, on site or in the lab to determine the hardness properties of geological material such as minerals or crystals by performing a scratch test in order to determine the sample being analysed. This is done according to the Moh’s scall of hardness. This scriber has a hardness of 8.5 to 9, features knurling on the body and a pocket clip.
The tungsten carbide scriber is a small size, handy pocket instrument with a tungsten carbide point tip, Therefore, it is harder than the regular steel scriber. This item allows for geologists either working in the field or in a lab to perform a scratch test on minerals and crystals in order to determine the hardness of the material according to the, Moh’s scale of hardness. The tip is made of tungsten carbide, placing it 8.5 to 9 on the Moh’s scale. Thus, this model is more suitable if you are aware that you will be investigating harder minerals, such as corundum.
